The life of Chris Mercer is a perfect example of what can be achieved when you believe in yourself and follow your goals. Born and raised in Cooma, Chris dreamt of pursuing a career in theatre but initially lacked the self-confidence to make that dream a reality. Thanks to community support and a fortuitous grant from the Country Education Foundation, he was able to find the confidence to become a highly successful figure in the world of Australian theatre. Now he is sharing his story as part of the It Takes a Village initiative, a national campaign aimed at encouraging people to remember that all of us, not just parents and teachers, have a role to play in helping our local young people achieve at school.
